That to amend presumes breakage

That everything here has already been touched by someone

That to become raises questions of circumstances

That the written word promises nothing

That being the case That considering That whereas That therefore

That debate is profitable That time is debatable

That any hole may loop That any loop may hull

That someone’s freedom presumes someone’s enslavement

That surplus presumes shortage That presumption supplies scarcity

That zero sum is only aftermath That afterlife of subtraction

That battle– fought– won– lost– That treaty– promised– printed– violated–

That ceasefires do not cease fire That original war struggling forward

That history begs me to remember it as a dream That I wake up to the same nightmare

That I live landlocked That I still see the sea in the sky sunlit cerulean

That hope at the borderline That hope I rewrite That hope or That hope or

That I fear That divinity That strength That vast That taste of saltwater

That increasing cost of fresh water That melted That plastic That contaminated

That I remain skeptical, worse, pessimistic of law That I remain, skeptical, worse, pessimistic

That I became raises further questions
