dispoems
when guatemala buckles against
rio suchiate, there won’t be a gallo
can left to buy. the albergues will float
south along the skirt of tacaná
like a bright parachute of laundry,
tugging our sad foundations behind
a speedboat. wells shall spring like
fountains! and a procession of wet
bosses shall scatter into the selva
lacandona, clacking the last coke
bottles together, bearing lint, slime,
freed dirt, & cowering under falling rods.
dispoems was a poetry collective in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the late 2000’s. Its last remaining member works at a Kinko’s in Liberal, Kansas while teaching a course on the works of Xavier Villaurrutia in translation.
